Shanie, who used to date Marvin Humes from JLS, is aiming for a career as successful as the This Morning and Celebrity Juice star.
“I love that Holly is able to be a mum of two, girl next door and sexy minx at the same time,” said Shanie, 28.
“And I really admire Dermot O’Leary. I would love to present The X Factor.
“Being a presenter, you just get to be yourself and have a conversation. And that’s two things I love.”
Shanie started her career as a dancer, performing with Cheryl Cole, Peter Andre and Tine Tempah, and touring the world with Kelly Rowland.
She said: “I remember us being in Brisbane and Kelly was a bit bored. We were all jetlagged and she was like, ‘come to the room, we’re going to order food and watch a movie’.
“It was really weird because I’m a huge Destiny’s Child fan.
“Post working with her, no job was ever going to compare – unless Beyoncé called, of course.”
Girlband Duchess were tipped as the “next big thing” when they formed in 2008 but they disbanded three years later, having made little impact on the charts.
Now Shanie has teamed up with the Discovering Arts Music Group to help other bands and musicians get their big break, performing at showcases held at Brixton Jamm in south London from this Wednesday.
“Duchess had a shot,” said Shanie, whose nickname is Miss Jinx (“because I’m always dropping things”).
“But it really is hard being in a band. There are so many different personalities. With Duchess, I left disappointed in two of my three bandmates.”
She added: “All of these industries are difficult to break into. You have to be committed, you have to love it and there’s luck, too.
“Discovering Arts Music creates a platform for people who maybe aren’t suited to The X Factor or The Voice.
“They get the chance to perform in front of an audience that might have industry people in.”
Shanie lives with her boyfriend, former Lincoln City and Gillingham footballer Tony Sinclair, inset, in south London. They met just before she joined Duchess – and Shanie was less than impressed.
“He approached me in Faces nightclub in Essex and I said ‘no thank you’. When he asked why, I said ‘because we’re in Faces!’” she said.
“When I found out he was a footballer, it was too much.” They eventually got together on a night out with a mutual friend.
“He’s a humble, kind, down-to-earth guy who plays football as a career,” said Shanie. “That taught me not to judge too quickly.”
But things could have turned out very differently – Shanie dated JLS star Marvin in their teens.
“We’ve been friends for 17 years,” she said.
“We grew up together and were in Oliver! at the London Palladium when we were 11. We dated in our teens for a few years.
“It was like puppy love. It was serious but we were so young.
“Now it’s like it never happened. Me, Tony, Marvin and Rochelle were sitting together at a christening recently.”
As a dancer and now a presenter, Shanie has had her fair share of male attention – sometimes from famous stars (although she isn’t naming names).
She was even “chatted up” by Peter Andre’s son Junior, who she called “a cheeky chap”.
But she won’t let that distract her from her big dreams.
“You always get flirty people,” she said.
“You get comments and there have been weird things that have happened with male artists. I just shrug it off and move on.
“I just want to concentrate on my presenting and hopefully have an amazing career.”
