STYLE DIARY… London Fashion Week Special (Feb 2017)

Event: London Fashion Week – February 2017

Location: London – Freemasons House.

Event Highlight: My favorite show this season had to be Barrus…

Barrus is a Turkish brand who presented their AW17 collection at Freemason’s Hall on day four of London Fashion Week.

Design duo, Neslişah Yılmaz and Nur Çağlayan, took inspiration from the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the seventh wonder of the ancient world. Their new line featured contemporary design from antediluvian roots in the ancient heritage of Mesopotamia. The fabrics were delicate and luxurious and swished down the runway like a gentle wave with every step. The jewel tones combined with satin and lace fabric felt uber expensive, but the designs featured in black & also crisp white were my favourite.

Style Note: Just when you have recovered from the last round of fashionistas, fashion parties and fashion shows along comes the next London Fashion Week…. boy does it creep up on you! February fashion week is always the one I dread purely because I’m an bajan island girl so I am simply not built for the cold, wind and rain which is what most February’s in London consist of.

I made a conscious decision prior to February London Fashion Week to opt for comfort & warmth above all impulses to follow the trends regardless of weather conditions!

First stop was to BPR… my lovely friend and PR chica Camilla helped me pick out some party dresses from Rare London… which is one of my go to online boutiques for dresses to flatter my figure and create curves in all the right places. See one of my new favourite dresses from them in the images below at the Universal Music Pre Brit Awards party with my girly Sarah Jane Crawford. Then I checked in with the PR girls at high street favourite New Look. I went in looking for trends that would keep me warm and footwear that would keep me comfortable! A few staple pieces that really excited me were my first experience of rocking the “Mom jean”, the rocker tee trend, fluffy stilettos & Metallic boots! Check out all my looks below!

Goodie Bag: There were several goodie bag stands at the event but I was to busy chatting away so I missed out on the treats.

Event Highlight: Seeing myself in the movie & celebrating with my fellow cast members.

Style Note: This is the second of Peggy Hartanto’s stunning creations that I have had the pleasure of wearing to an event. The sapphire blue shade is absolute perfection and would suit any skin tone. The sheer panels keep the dress flirty and sexy despite the elegant mid length skirt. I chose to enhance the colour of the dress further by adding this gorgeous New Look Fashion Blue velvet bag with gold detail and then to enhance the luxurious texture of the satin fabric I opted for equally silky satin mustard court shoes from Zara. A simple yellow gold bangle finished off the look and I received nothing but compliments on my ensemble from the gorgeous blogging crowd.

Event Highlight: Filming the new craze “The Mannequin Challenge” and a christmas themed GIF booth and free flowing prosecco.

What am I wearing? Top to toe New Look Fashion.

Style Note: I recently went for a major shopping spree in the New Look store and picked up some more winter appropriate occasion wear. I really wanted to go with trousers & boots combos during the colder months and team them with some lovely tops.

This look felt festive and ticked the smart casual at its best. The metallic ankle boots make this look super on trend and fashionable, the leather look trousers keep it sexy and the casual top knot and hoop earrings together create a street wise but sassy fashionista image. Forgive me in advance as I have a feeling these boots are going to become a regular fixture on my blog! FYI I had soooo many compliments on my little hand held chain mini bag. New Looks bag collection is on “fire” lately, make sure you pop into store and check it out!
