So you have a special occasion, you’ve saved up for the ultimate day of relaxation, your pockets are probably light of the best part of £200.00 and you end up disappointed and wishing you’d just booked £200.00 worth of treatments at your local beauty spot. Well as a regular spa lover ( Its an indulgence myself and my mother like to indulge in at least twice a year for some mother, daughter time) and as a beauty expert I have found two spa’s that i’d recommend not too far from London for a day spa retreat.

The first spa is Alexander House Hotel and spa, East Grinstead
My mum Michelle, my Auntie Debbie & my Auntie Helen and I visited Alexandra House for a girly spa day to celebrate my mum’s 50th Birthday. The ‘Utopia Spa’ is pricey at approximately £150 – £250 for a spa day per person. But the spa pool is incredible featuring massage jets and a sauna & steam room, the outdoor hot tub is gorgeous and we even used in on a snowy day in February with a glass of prosecco in hand. It also features top notch changing facility’s, a gym a relaxation room looking out over manicured gardens as well as 5 star restaurant for lunch and dinner. This place really does help create perfect spa day of pampering and being just an hour or so out of London it feels like your in the countryside without really being too far away from the city after all.

My second spa is The Felbridge Hotel & Spa – East Grinstead…
My mum and i visited the Felbridge hotel and spa on several occasions in 2013 for a bit of rest and relaxation as well as some mother daughter time. The ‘Chakra Spa’ is reasonably priced offering spa packages between £60.00 – £200.00 per day per person. Also with this spa they even allow you to just go and use just the gym, pool and spa facility’s for the day for just £15.00 and you can then add on treatments if you wish but if you don’t want to then you don’t have too you can just soak up the atmosphere. This Spa allows you to pamper yourself in one of the Chakra Spa’s five fully equipped contemporary treatment rooms using Elemis, Guinot and Essie products. The Chakra Spa also boasts two nail bars, hair dressing salon, indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, gym and tennis courts.
To summarize…
‘The Felbridge Hotel & Spa’ isn’t nearly as glamorous and luxurious as ‘Alexandra House hotel & Spa ‘ but the treatments are very good and this spa does provide all you need from a spa at a reasonable price. I would say this is your one stop shop for a general pick me up, some R&R or a day of bonding with the girls. As for Alexandra house, this is the place for romance, hen party’s Birthdays and general special occasions as it really does make you feel like a celebrity with its 5 star services and surroundings.
